IoT Developer Kit
OVERVIEW
Let’s create something amazing together.
Develop an IoT device with the power of T-Mobile’s network.
Take your IoT concept to market faster with the T-Mobile DevEdge IoT Developer Kit, which also features a complete software development kit (SDK) for fast cloud services integration. We’re making it easy for developers to focus on your specific applications, connect to our network, and certify IoT devices for launch.
Our IoT Developer Kit uses LTE CAT-M, a leading LPWA network technology for Internet of Things applications offering a connection speed of up to 375 Kbps. It can connect resource-constrained devices to the internet and transmit small amounts of data over long periods of time, while providing high signal penetration and maintaining minimal power consumption. Out of the box, you can see the device’s data over our cellular network without additional coding.
How the T-Mobile DevEdge IoT Developer Kit stands out among competitor kits:
Easy to use: When you turn it on, you’re automatically connected to the T-Mobile network through a SIM card preloaded with 500MB of data. We also created a companion app so you can easily engage with the Developer Kit. And with built-in sensors, you can test out various functionality without having to buy and connect them separately. Add more sensors with the integrated I2C Quiic connector.
Simple debugging: We provide an integrated debugging interface into the hardware—there will be no need to purchase additional debugging hardware. Our companion app will include a feature that allows you to see the debug logs in real-time.
Open software and hardware: You can freely use our software and hardware designs to develop your own product, no licensing or copyright permissions required. We will provide all the necessary documentation for you to make your own variants of our software and/or hardware.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled: To support more use cases, we’ve included the ability to leverage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for communication.
Flexible design capabilities: Our kit provides superior hardware and software flexibility by using a separate processor from the modems as well as an adaptable SDK and software architecture.
T-Mobile and Zephyr together offer extensive development flexibility.
Working in a resource-constrained environment? We built our open-source SDK on top of Zephyr’s modular, scalable, real-time operating system to support these types of devices where Linux might be too big. Zephyr, built with security in mind, enables vast development flexibility. It supports multiple architectures including ARC, ARM, RISC-V and X86; you can easily tailor an optimal solution to meet your needs. Zephyr OS is used in a wide array of applications from simple connected sensors to complex edge systems.

IoT Developer Kit use cases: Imagine the possibilities.
Unlike many other developer kits, ours enables you with a variety of capabilities right out of the box. Here are just a few ideas to get you started whether you want to test it out “as is” or add more sensors or other hardware to realize your concept. There are infinite other ideas you could explore.
OUT OF THE BOX
BRING YOUR OWN SENSORS

Geofencing
Reach customers by triggering pre-programmed actions when a mobile device enters or exits a pre-defined location.

Water leaks
Set up a notification system that alerts you of water leaks at one or multiple pre-defined locations.

Asset management
Gain more visibility and control of your inventory to simplify tracking and pulling items while saving time and money.

Air quality monitoring
Track air quality in real time in multiple environments to make informed safety decisions for workers and your community.

Outdoor/indoor location tracking
Track persons or objects within buildings or out in the field to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Control power on/off
Remotely control the power of systems across your business either in real time or at pre-defined times.

Aging in place monitoring
Support or enhance activities of daily living, personal health or safety, mobility, communication, and physical activity.

Humidity monitoring
Ensure one or multiple locations remain at appropriate humidity levels for improved efficiency and/or compliance.
